I believe that New York City is one of the best places to live and raise a child. This city is extremely child friendly and has lots of activities tailored especially for kids of all ages. These include: children’s theater, The Children’s Museum, many playgrounds, indoor play spaces for when the weather’s bad, art and music classes, Lincoln Center children’s concert series, play groups, cooking classes and more.
Merry Go Round at Central Park
Right down the street is Central Park, where there’s a fantastic merry-go-round, a row boat pond, a kids’ puppet theater, a children’s petting zoo, a regular zoo, and many playgrounds. My friends who live here take their children to all sorts of interesting activities, and I plan to do the same.
New York City has many wonderful schools – both public and private. My plan is to make sure that by the time my child is two years old we live in a neighborhood with access to one of the top public schools. I prefer public schools, as I think it’s important for a child to be surrounded by people with different cultural and economic backgrounds (as long as the education provided is top notch). With this said, if I feel that my child needs special attention for any reason, I may consider a private school where any needs can be more personally addressed.
